Chris Pennie was born in Lake Hopatcong N.J. May 31, 1977. Twelve years later he received his first drumkit and began taking lessons.

By eighteen, Chris had played in a handful of bands and was attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he declared drums his primary instrument, and studied music synthesis.

After returning home from Berklee, Chris and guitarist Ben Weinman formed the Dillinger Escape Plan in the spring of 1997.

After ten years with D.E.P., Chris joined the progressive rock band Coheed & Cambria.
