Job Description

Title:  Web Designer                                                     Status:  Full time - Exempt
Reporting to:  Director of Marketing                              Last Updated:  2/11/08

Job Summary: 
The Web Designer is responsible for development, programming, maintenance, and reporting of corporate websites and technology-based media/materials.  Designer must have strong layout and production skills and be able to work closely with members of the Marketing department and other departments to produce effective, brand-building materials within budget and timeframe. 

Responsibilities:

• Effective and efficient development of websites and e-marketing materials.
• Primary programming for web content, e-marketing, and e-commerce materials.
• Maintenance of physical and electronic file archives.
• Development and maintenance of databases related to web, e-marketing and e-commerce activity.
• Generate reports for web, e-marketing and e-commerce activity.
• Conduct research as needed relating to programming, content, or related activities and materials
• Aid in maintenance and development of hardware/software needs in department.
• Management of individually assigned projects and assistance in management of project list, including updating and reporting.
• Assist in clipping, retouching and color correcting images using Photoshop.
• Accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. 

Required Credentials:

•  1-5 years work experience as web designer.
• Ability to develop creative solutions that are based on objectives given and align with brand strategies.
• Design and layout skills as well as programming and interface development skills to produce materials at an appropriate quality level.
• Proficiency in the following

• Programming/network: ASP.NET, VB.NET, classic ASP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML and AJAX
• Flash development (animation, video, audio) and ActionScript 2.0, Actionscript 3.0 a plus
• Strong background Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
• Database development & query: MySQL
• Search engine optimization
• Administration of IIS server, FTP server and web server

• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
• Communication skills to find information and produce desired results from vendors or co-workers.
• Attention to detail and follow-through necessary for optimal effectiveness of materials and efforts.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Diligent reporting of project status and cost.

Physical Attributes: 

• Occasional domestic travel.
• Requires long periods of sedentary work.
• Requires repetitive upper body movement.

Required Education: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Web and/or Graphic Design
